ORANGEVALE, Calif. — A man was arrested Wednesday in Orangevale after a Folsom police investigation led to the seizure of explosive material, firearms and drugs.
Officers with the Folsom Police Department executed a search warrant at a home on the 9100 block of Golden Gate Avenue as the result of an investigation, according to a department news release.
Police said they found explosive material, multiple firearms, methamphetamine, psychedelic mushrooms, narcotics packaging and $2,000 cash during the search.
Matthew Vollman, 53, of Orangevale, was arrested in connection with the seizure. Vollman is prohibited from possessing any firearms, police said.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office explosive disposal team responded to remove all explosives from the residence. Immediate neighbors were advised to shelter in place while deputies cleared the property.
“Our officers often encounter situations where outside expertise is necessary for the safety of all involved personnel,” the department said in a statement. “We are grateful for our partnership with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office in handling these types of unexpected events.”
Vollman was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail just before 11:30 p.m. and he faces four felony charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, jail records show.
He also faces charges involving the unlawful possession of an explosive in a public place and the importation, sales and transportation of controlled substances.
He faces a misdemeanor charge involving the unlawful creation, transportation and possession of the explosive.
Jail records say Vollman’s bail is set as $250,000, and he is expected to appear in Sacramento County Superior Court on Friday afternoon.
