FOLSOM, Calif. — The Folsom Police Officers’ Association (FPOA) began last week its Santa sleigh exhibits collecting toys and canned food for donation for its 38th year.
Two more stationary Christmas displays will collect donations in front of Folsom restaurants Tuesday and Saturday before sleigh tours begin Sunday and last through Dec. 14.
“Since 1986, the Folsom Police Officers’ Association has held our Santa Sleigh for the community,” said Sgt. John Triplett, the FPOA president. “Each year, the Folsom Police Department in conjunction with the Folsom Fire Department escort Santa through Folsom. We have designated stops within the community so children can get their picture taken with Santa, see the police cars and fire engines and donate canned or toys.”
Canned food is donated to Twin Lakes Food Bank, and the toys are for the FPOA’s toy drive where the Folsom Police Department and Folsom Fire Department deliver toys within a few weeks to identified children, Triplett said.
“This year, we have identified 43 families, which includes more than 150 children,” he said.
