SACRAMENTO, Calif. — With Thanksgiving right around the corner, nonprofit organizations and churches throughout the Sacramento area are hosting events where they will give away turkeys and other Thanksgiving foods.
Sunrise Christian Food Ministry Turkey Giveaway
Sunshine Christian Food Ministry in Citrus Heights is hosting free turkey giveaways for three days. Giveaways will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Nov. 20 and then from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 21 and 22. Sunshine Food Pantry told ABC10 that reservations were sent out to 1,600 families to arrive at a certain time. The organization added it will take the first 200 people without a reservation beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

Bridge Network Turkey Giveaway
The Bridge Network Center, a mentor service organization for at-risk populations, is hosting a turkey giveaway on Nov. 21 from 1-5 p.m. or until supplies last. The giveaway also includes Thanksgiving sides.

Stockton Boulevard Partnership Drive-Thru
The Stockton Boulevard Partnership is giving away free turkeys at its 6th Annual Turkeys-To-Go on Nov. 23. Turkeys will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and while supplies last. Those in need of a turkey must stay in their vehicle and there’s only one turkey per car. Walk-ups are not accepted and those people will not be served.

Cosumnes River College Drive-Thru
The Hawk Cares Center at Cosumnes River College is inviting faculty, staff and community members to receive a free turkey at a drive-thru giveaway on Nov. 23. The event begins at 9 a.m. and will continue until supplies last. Those in need of a turkey must enter on Calvine Road and go to Parking Lot E next to the CRC parking structure. Turkeys will be given on a per car basis and attendees must stay in their vehicle. There is no eligibility required to receive a turkey.

South Sacramento Christian Center Drive-Thru
South Sacramento Christian Center, a church in the Florin neighborhood, is hosting its annual Thanksgiving Drive-Thru Giveaway on Nov. 23. The event happens from 7:30-10 a.m. or until food runs out. The church is offering a drive-thru and walk-up service for those who are without a car. Only two families per car will be served, the church told ABC10. The church recommends arriving early as many people are expected to show up for the giveaway.

Yolo County Children’s Alliance Community Giveaway
Yolo County Children’s Alliance is hosting its 19th Annual Community Giveaway Day on Nov. 23 from 8 a.m. to noon. Part of the giveaway is complete holiday meal kits including a turkey and all the traditional sides provided by the Yolo Food Bank. The nonprofit organization is also giving away kids’ coats and blankets to ensure children stay warm during the colder months.
