GOLD RIVER, Calif. — A man who led police on a chase and engaged in an hours long standoff with the California Highway Patrol was taken into custody Tuesday night.
CHP said an officer initially saw a blue Toyota Tundra driving in a dangerous and unsafe manner in Gold River around 4:30 p.m. Police said the driver led police on a chase after the officer tried to do an enforcement stop.
The suspect, a 39-year-old man, took off and barricaded himself in a home on Hollenbeck Way.
After an hours-long standoff, the suspect surrendered to CHP and was taken into custody. Police said the suspect was taken to a mental health facility for evaluation.
