Hay Fire: Brush fire burns near Vacaville amid critical weather conditions

According to the Vacaville Fire District, it started just before 1 p.m. along the 6200 block of Hay Road, just east of the city.

SOLANO COUNTY, Calif. — The Hay Fire near Vacaville threatened structures Friday, according to the Dixon Fire Department.

According to the Vacaville Fire District, it started just before 1 p.m. along the 6200 block of Hay Road, just east of the city.

It wasn't a Cal Fire incident, but they did assist.

According to the Rio Vista Fire Department, Hay Road is closed but Highways 113 and 12 are currently open.

At 3:30 p.m., forward progress was stopped at 869 acres. Cal Fire said the fire is 70% contained.

Buildings were threatened, but evacuation warnings or orders were not issued. 

WILDFIRE PREPS

If you live in a wildfire-prone zone, Cal Fire suggests creating a defensible space around your home. Defensible space is an area around a building in which vegetation and other debris are completely cleared. At least 100 feet is recommended.

The agency also suggests signing up for local warning system notifications and knowing your community’s evacuation plans best to prepare yourself and your family in cases of wildfires.
