Sacramento deputies investigating possible hate crime at Hindu temple

Deputies found graffiti containing expletives and references to the Prime Minister of India on marquees and the ground.

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. — The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible hate crime that happened early Wednesday morning at a Hindu temple in Mather.

Deputies say it happened at the Swaminarayan Mandir temple along Armstrong Avenue.

Investigators found graffiti containing expletives and references to the Prime Minister of India on the marquees and ground entrance to the parking lot of the temple. Pipes supplying water to a nearby building were also cut.

Police are currently looking for the person or people involved.
