Ink Eats and Drinks closes after 21 years of operation

A sign posted on the midtown restaurant's door says its permanently closed.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Ink Eats and Drinks in Midtown Sacramento has permanently closed its doors after 21 years, according to a sign posted on its door.

The restaurant and bar, located on N and 28th streets, became a local favorite as a late-night spot for food and drinks since it opened in 2003. The eatery also drew brunch customers on the weekends.

Ink Eats and Drinks offered happy hour specials all-day on Mondays and late nights on Thursday and Fridays. The business’ name is a nod to tattoos, and its walls were filled with colorful drawings.

“It is with a heavy heart that we have closed our doors permanently,” the sign on the door reads. “We cherish the times we have shared together and will forever be grateful for your patronage.”

ABC10 reached out to Ink owner Chris Nestor regarding the closure but the inquiry was not immediately returned.

Ink's closure comes a month after two discrimination lawsuits were filed against the restaurant.

One of the lawsuits alleges a former male manager made “multiple egregious and inappropriate comments” to a former female employee. The complaint said the manager threatened the employee with termination if she reported his conduct, saying he would fire anyone that tried to report him.

The other lawsuit alleges the same manager made inappropriate comments about the sexual orientation of a male employee, who is a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
