A Rock Candy Tours group made their way through Rose Hill Cemetery Monday morning as construction crews hammered away at the Allman Brothers' grave site.
"There's nothing else in world like this and pretty soon it's going to be spectacular," says Rock Candy tour guide Rex Dooley.
According to Dooley, Gregg Allman bought 10 graves around his plot before he died.
Duane Allman and Berry Oakley are buried in the fenced-in portion of the plot, and Gregg's grave is across the walkway.
According to Macon-Bibb Parks and Recreation Director, Sam Kitchens, the redesign will essentially mirror the side that's already complete.
It's all being paid for by the Allman family.
"People are going to drive here to Macon to see this," said Dooley.
Or, in some cases, fly--like Frank Henrey and Harald Solaas, who flew to Macon from Norway to pay homage to the music legends.
"This is our first time in Macon, and we needed to do this because of how much we love the music from here," said Solaas. "It's kind of moving to be here, to be honest."
When the remodel is complete, Dooley says the brothers will still be making history.
"Every band in the world wishes they could be buried together, but this is one of the only times it's really ever happened," said Dooley.
Details about who else will be buried here have not been confirmed, but Dooley speculates that other family members and band members of the Allman Brothers will eventually be added to the plot.
We were unable to reach Gregg Allman's manager, Michael Lehman, to get more details.
