JACKSON, Calif. — Every year, the city of Jackson in Amador County holds its Christmas Delights festival the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving.
This year, at 6 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, people can see Santa light the Christmas tree at the Jackson Fire Department, located at the juncture of Main Street and Highway 49.
Organizers said there will be free pictures with Santa at the National Hotel. There will also be free horse-drawn carriage rides, with pick-up locations at the firehouse and on the corner of Broadway and Water Street.
Festivities run until 9 p.m. Shops along Main Street will be open late.

Friday also marks this year’s start of an annual tradition: Mr. Holiday’s Amador County Famous Christmas Village, located in the offices of the Ledger Dispatch Newspaper in Jackson.
With more than 300 tiny buildings, you can come see it for yourself. The Ledger Dispatch offices will remain open from 6-9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday so people can check out the village, which “Mr. Holiday” Michael Brewer organizes. It’s a tradition he has kept up for more than 25 years.
