Last-minute shoppers take to Roseville Galleria, small businesses to clear their Christmas lists

Some shoppers were slightly stressed as they shopped on the final weekend before Christmas, also known as ‘Super Saturday.’

ROSEVILLE, Calif. — The clock is ticking for last-minute shoppers as tens of millions across the country are trying to find a gift to put under the tree with less than two days until Christmas.

Thousands of shoppers were at the Westfield Galleria at Roseville trying to check off their shopping list and some came to visit Santa Claus before he returns to the North Pole.

Shopping was a family affair for many, like the Cahills.

“It is very nice. Got most of it done ahead of time,” said Raymond Cahill, who was shopping with his three kids and significant other. “We are just coming in to do a couple last minute gifts for the girls.”

Other shoppers were slightly stressed as they shopped on the final weekend before Christmas, also known as ‘Super Saturday.’

“I don't think I want to stand in line, so I don’t know what to do,” said Anna Caltacci. “Amazon is too late probably so it has been a little stressful.”

Other shoppers chose to support small businesses, like the ones in Old Town Roseville.

Located on Vernon Street, Sparrow 5 owner M Taylor credits her loyal customers for helping keep them afloat as people still feel the effects of inflation.

“The economy is not great so it is not as good as we hope, but we have done okay,” said Taylor.

Small businesses are helping last-minute shoppers alleviate the stress, too.

“Small business; it is really important to support them,” said Taylor. "For one thing, you develop relationships so there is a relationship you get when you shop small business, and we support the community because we have 70 local artists, so that supports them.”

The clock is ticking and for some shoppers, the panic is setting in.
