OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The father of a man who died in the Ghost Ship fire last year has filed a lawsuit against the property owner and operators.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/2oGPJJL) the suit charges that a confluence of avoidable circumstances killed Edmond Lapine II and 35 others in the Dec. 2 fire.

The suit, filed last week in Alameda County Superior Court, seeks unspecified damages.

The 34-year-old Lapine was attending a dance party at the converted warehouse when the fire broke. The complaint alleges that Derick Ion Almena and his wife, and building owner Chor Ng, were aware of the fire hazards inside the building and did nothing about them. The new suit is one of many against them.

Almena and Allison could not be reached for comment, and an attorney for Ng did not immediately return a request for comment.
