MODESTO — Police are looking for witnesses in the shooting death of 28-year-old Robert Farish at about 10:45 p.m. Sunday. Officers found Farish on Nian Way in south Modesto with gunshot wounds, he was taken to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries.
Police said a gray or black newer model sedan, similar to a Mustang, was driving down Nian Way when the passenger fired a round at Farish, hitting his left side and then speeding away before police arrived. Police detectives do not believe the shooting was a random act.

SOBERANES — Due to a hazardous tree, Hwy. 1 is closed in the Big Sur area effective immediatey.
A road closure is in effect along Hwy. 1 from Point Sur Lighthouse to North Coast Ridge Road. The closure may last until 5 p.m., if not longer into the evening. Hwy. 1 will be closed to all traffic, including residents, in both directions.
The roadway will be re-opened as soon as the threat to firefighter and public safety has been mitigated.
