SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. — A Lodi motorcyclist died Monday after a crash involving a big rig in San Joaquin County.
California Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 8:50 a.m. along Escalon Bellota Road north of Milton Road.
A motorcyclist was heading south on Escalon Bellota Road faster than the posted speed limit. California Highway Patrol said the big rig driver was heading north and slowing down to turn left onto Milton Road. The big rig driver made the left turn and crossed the northbound lane. The motorcyclist couldn't slow down in time to avoid the big rig and hit the rearmost axle of the trailer.
The motorcyclist died at the scene. The rider was identified as a 39-year-old man from Lodi, but his name wasn't released.
The big rig driver wasn't injured.
California Highway Patrol said it's unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. The crash is under investigation.
