EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. — An El Dorado County man was arrested and charged Tuesday on suspicion of possessing and distributing child porn, soliciting a child to create said pornography, and allegedly breaking into apartments and stealing underwear and other personal items from children.
The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office says it began investigating Darren Gunter in December after getting multiple Crimes Against Children tips about him.
Deputies say Gunter allegedly broke into "multiple apartments" in the Cameron Oaks apartment complex and took 15 to 20 pairs of underwear, a child's bedsheet and backpack. He was also allegedly seen peering through bedroom windows at night and recording children around the complex.
A search warrant was issued Friday for Gunter's home where deputies found "numerous" images and videos of child pornography of children "much younger" than 12-years-old. The search also found evidence of chats with minors online and "other extremely graphic and disturbing content," according to the sheriff's office.
