FAIRFIELD, Calif. — A murder suspect allegedly on the run for three years was arrested Friday afternoon in Fairfield.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) reportedly stopped Jeremiah Marquis Macias Lacy, of Vallejo, for not wearing a seatbelt around 2:45 p.m., the CHP’s Solano office said.
Lacy allegedly provided an officer with a false identity prompting law enforcement to employ a fingerprint reader, which positively identified him and led to his arrest, authorities said.
Lacy, 27, had a warrant out for his arrest in connection with an October 2021 homicide in Merced, according to the CHP. It was issued after his alleged involvement in the murder of Christina Velez, 33, who was killed and another person injured after a robbery and shoot-out on East Main Street.
He was booked Friday evening into Solano County Jail. He faces murder, robbery and assault charges, and his bail is set at $1.5 million, jail records show.
October 2021
Lacy and Travis Rucks, 20, reportedly fled the scene after the 2021 robbery and shooting in Merced.
A third suspect, 22-year-old Emari Lee Prescott, was allegedly injured during the shoot-out and arrested after seeking treatment at a hospital, the CHP said.
Rucks was arrested months later at a gas station in San Pablo after providing officers with a false name.
