FAIRFIELD, Calif. — A man suspected of two East Bay freeway shootings last month is now in custody, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP says the first shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. Aug. 3 on southbound Interstate 680 near Stoneridge Drive. The victim was driving in heavy traffic when they were shot in the shoulder.
About 45 minutes later, CHP says officers were called to a second shooting on Industrial Parkway on-ramp to northbound Interstate 880. The victim was uninjured in the shooting.
Both victims described a similar vehicle in the shooting, and officers said they used Flock cameras to identify the suspect as 47-year-old Damien Harris. They obtained arrest warrants for attempted murder, assault with a firearm and shooting from a vehicle.
Search warrants were executed Aug. 29 in Fairfield and Fremont, and Harris was taken into custody in Fairfield.
CHP says the search recovered multiple guns and ammunition, and Harris is being held at the Solano County Jail.
