FAIRFIELD, Calif. — A man was arrested after stabbing another passenger on an Amtrak train heading to Fairfield.
The Fairfield Police Department said an Amtrak conductor reported a possible stabbing around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
The officers met the train at the Fairfield-Vacaville Amtrak station. They boarded the train and made sure passengers exited the train. While searching the train, they found a 21-year-old man had been stabbed twice in the chest. He was taken to a hospital and is in critical condition.
Then, officers found a second victim using the suspect's knife to keep him back until police arrived.
Brandon Torres-Mendoza, 23, was arrested and booked in the Solano County Jail on multiple charges including attempted murder, false imprisonment and others.
Torres-Mendoza didn't know the two victims and the motive behind the stabbing is unclear, according to police.
The Fairfield Police Department and Amtrak police are investigating the stabbing.
