TURLOCK, Calif. — A 59-year-old was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly shot and killed an 18-year-old in Turlock.
According to the Turlock Police Department, it happened along the 1800 block of Lander Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found 18-year-old Jose Tamayo-Morales, of Modesto, with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say they found the shooting happened after a dispute between Tamayo-Morales and the suspect, 59-year-old Troy Cannon.
Detectives found the suspect vehicle using License Plate Reader technology, and Cannon was arrested.
“With the aid of license plate reader technology, our detectives were able to swiftly gather critical information and locate the suspect,” said Chief Jason Hedden. “This case serves as a powerful reminder of how technology is reshaping law enforcement, helping us protect the public and resolve cases more quickly.”
