Man convicted of killing Roseville waitress inside restaurant

Vita Joga was shot and killed by her ex-fiancé Johnnie Jordan in June 2021.

PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — The man accused of killing Roseville waitress Vita Joga in June 2021 was convicted of her murder Tuesday.

According to the Placer County District Attorney’s Office, 51-year-old Johnnie Jordan was convicted of first-degree murder.

He entered the House of Oliver on June 21, 2021 and killed Joga.

Jordan, a convicted felon who wasn’t allowed to have a gun, was expected in Placer County court the day of the killing to be arraigned on charges related to threats he made toward Joga. He bailed out earlier, skipped the court appearance and ultimately killed Joga.

Jordan also allegedly assaulted a correctional officer at the Placer County jail in January 2024. The correctional officer had minor facial bruising as a result of the attack.

Vita Joga was remembered by colleagues as a vibrant woman who could light up a room.
