YUBA CITY, Calif. — A man was hit and killed by a car after leaving a crosswalk in Yuba City Tuesday morning.

According to the Yuba City Police Department, the collision was reported around 5:50 a.m. at Bridge and Plumas streets.

First responders found 66-year-old David McQuay and brought him to a hospital, but he would ultimately die from his injuries.

Citing video evidence, police said McQuay left the nearby 7-Eleven and went toward the intersection for Bridge Street and walked diagonally toward the corner, leaving the crosswalk.

He was hit by a car that was heading westbound on the roadway. Police said the car had a greenlight and was driving 35 miles per hour.

Police don't suspect speed, alcohol or distracted driving as a factor in the collision.
