SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A man will be charged with murder after a woman died following a domestic violence incident near Cal Expo.

The Sacramento Police Department said a woman who was in critical condition died from her injuries on Monday. The suspect, Rahyme Johnson, will now face a murder charge.

The 25-year-old man was originally arrested Friday, Aug. 30 when Sacramento police responded to reports of domestic violence in the 1400 block of Response Road around 11:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive woman and detained Johnson who they described as “uncooperative.” The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition where she later died. Her name hasn't been released yet.

The man was arrested and booked on suspicion of attempted homicide, which was later updated to homicide when the woman died, and domestic violence charges.
