Man in custody after Stockton apartment unit fire

Five people were inside the apartment at the time of the fire. None of them were injured.

STOCKTON, Calif. — A man accused of setting a Stockton apartment unit on fire and watching it burn is now in custody.

According to the Stockton Police Department, 39-year-old Miguel Barajas was arrested around 3:15 p.m. Thursday in the 4500 block of Shelley Court. Officers found a loaded gun during their investigation.

The fire happened around 2:30 a.m. Thursday on the same street where Barajas was arrested.

The five people between the ages of 22 and 76, who were inside the apartment unit at the time of the fire, were uninjured.
