Man killed in Sutter County head-on crash

CHP says a driver tried to pass a car in front of him but collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

SUTTER COUNTY, Calif. — A Colusa County man died early Monday morning after a head-on crash on Highway 20 in Sutter County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened around 5 a.m. on Highway 20 west of Acacia Avenue.

CHP said a 54-year-old man from Williams was going eastbound in a Ford F-150 while another man was driving a Dodge Charger westbound.

The driver of the F-150 allegedly tried to pass another vehicle in front of him but collided with the front of the Charger.

The F-150 driver died at the hospital while the other driver suffered major injuries and was taken to Adventist Health and Rideout, authorities said.

Drugs and alcohol are reportedly not a suspected factor in the crash. The driver of the F-150 has not yet been identified.
