RIO LINDA, Calif. — A man was arrested after mistakenly shooting his girlfriend during a fight with her former boyfriend.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said deputies received a call regarding a shooting around 6 p.m. on 16th street in Rio Linda and that the suspect took off in a vehicle.
According to the sheriff's office, a woman took her boyfriend to visit her ex-boyfriend for an unknown reason and the two men start fighting. The woman's current boyfriend pulled out a gun and attempted to shoot at her ex-boyfriend.
The man ends up shooting at his girlfriend in the ankle and they leave the area in their vehicle.
Deputies find the vehicle a short time later and were led on a chase, which ended near Watt Avenue and Winona Way in North Highlands.
The woman was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries after the boyfriend was detained. No one else was injured, the sheriff's office said.
