Father, young son critically injured in north Sacramento house fire

Upon arrival firefighters found two people, both unresponsive – a man in the kitchen with burns and a young child in the bathroom.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A single father and his young son are in the hospital after a house fire in north Sacramento Christmas night.

According to Sacramento Fire Captain Justin Silvia, it was called in around 5:30 p.m. on Acacia Avenue.

Upon arrival firefighters found two people, both unresponsive – a man in the kitchen with burns and a young child in the bathroom.

Family members spoke with ABC10 and identified the father as Salvador and child as David.

Silvia says the two are critically injured and both regained consciousness on the way to UC Davis Medical Center.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire. They told ABC10 the home did not have working smoke detectors.
