'Disturbing news’ | Manteca school paraprofessional arrested

The district said it received word from law enforcement Anthony Morrisette, a paraprofessional instructional aide, was arrested.

MANTECA, Calif. — The Manteca Unified School District (MUSD) confirmed Wednesday one of its paraeducator employees was arrested.

The district received word from law enforcement Anthony Morrisette, a paraprofessional instructional aide, was arrested, according to a district statement Wednesday.

Morrisette is on administrative leave and banned from entering any district property or having any communication with staff or students, the statement said.

“The allegations that led to the arrest did not occur on campus and the arrest was made outside of San Joaquin County,” the district said.

The MUSD said it is unable to provide specific details about Morrisette’s case. It's not clear what Morrisette was arrested for. The district also said it understands this news may evoke concerns and emotions among the school community.

“In consideration of this, students and staff may choose to engage the school’s on-campus counseling services, which offer social and emotional support for anyone who requires assistance processing this disturbing news,” the district said.

MUSD serves the Manteca, Stockton, Lathrop and French Camp areas.
