By the end of the day Monday, there will be six C-130 airplanes using Sacramento McClellan Airport as a reload base to fight the fires raging in Northern California.
Mike Mohler with Cal Fire says the planes will use fire retardant that jettisons from the aircraft above fires to help ground crews control the blaze.
The Sacramento McClellan Airport is now a year-round reload base to help fight fires because Mohler says the fire season has become a year-long situation where crews have to constantly be on standby in case they're called for duty.
