Police say the 13-year-old was at home with a younger sibling during the home invasion.

MODESTO, Calif. — Police are trying to track down three people after a home invasion in Modesto.

According to Modesto Police Department, three people broke into a home in the area of McClure Road and Clogston Way around 8 a.m. Tuesday. It was reported by a 13-year-old who was at home with their younger sibling.

Lt. Kalani Souza says the 13-year-old reported the home invasion as it was happening and then hid with their sibling.

Police say one of the home invaders reportedly had a gun. It's unclear if anything was taken from the home.

Police described the three people as men wearing construction-style clothing.

The home invasion is still under investigation, but police confirmed the children are safe and with their parents. They say the home invasion appears to be an isolated incident and they're trying to figure out a motive.
