Modesto's Redwood Café to close, move to Lathrop

The restaurant will close on New Year's Eve before being put on trucks and transported to its new location in River Islands.

MODESTO, Calif. — Modesto’s Redwood Café is moving.

ABC10 confirmed Wednesday the last day it will be open in its current location along Dale Road is New Year’s Eve 2024.

From there, it will be closed for a few months before it gets loaded onto trucks and moved to its new location, River Islands in Lathrop, as part of a new deal with the Dell’Osso family.

The move will reportedly save jobs and comes after the Redwood Café was sold to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and set to close.

The restaurant was named one of California’s Most Romantic by Yelp in 2023, and it’s a popular wedding venue.
