MODESTO, Calif. — Police said they found hundreds of child pornography images during a search at a Modesto tutor's home.
The bust came after police got a tip May 9 about a person uploading and downloading image files with child pornography.
Eventually, the Modesto Police Department was able to identify 57-year-old Ronald McMurtry as a suspect and got a search warrant for his home and electronic devices.
Police said they found child pornography images and several electronic devices, possibly with carrying child pornography in a digital format.
McMurtry is a private school tutor who serves children 6 years and older, but police said there's no evidence suggesting those underage clients were victimized.
McMurtry was arrested on suspicion of possessing and distributing child pornography and was booked into the county jail.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the case to call Detective Nancy Lopez at 209-342-6180.
