MODESTO, Calif. — Two people walked away from a plane crash in Stanislaus County with only minor injuries Sunday afternoon, officials said.
According to the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office, the crash was reported around 12:44 p.m., just east of the Modesto Airport.
The Stanislaus Consolidated Fire District said the plane was reportedly two miles short of the runway and crashed into an open field. First responders found the plane after it was spotted by another inbound plane. It was described as a North America T6.
Deputies said the two people inside were standing next to the plane when medics arrived, and, according to fire crews, the occupants only had minor injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
