Deadly crash reported in Modesto, CHP says

CHP says the report of the crash came in around 6:30 p.m. Friday.

MODESTO, Calif. — California Highway Patrol said a deadly rollover was reported Friday night.

CHP said reports of crash came in after 6:30 p.m. Law enforcement said a vehicle rolled over and crashed into an embankment on northbound Interstate 5 just north of Fink Road near Patterson. 

When emergency personnel arrived on the scene, they located a Ford SUV with major damage. The Ford SUV was driven by a 59-year-old woman from Oakland who died from injuries at the scene, the CHP said.

An investigation from law enforcement indicates that the woman was driving southbound on I-5 and was approaching Fink Road. The CHP said "for unknown reasons" the driver entered the wide dirt center median before overturning and entering northbound traffic. 

The CHP said the victim was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. The CHP said its unknown if drugs and/or alcohol were involved in the crash.
