Man killed in Riverbank crash after suffering medical emergency, deputies say

Early reports indicate the driver, an elderly man, suffered a medical emergency and crashed into a home along Patterson Road.

RIVERBANK, Calif. — A man was killed Saturday in Riverbank after he reportedly suffered a medical emergency and crashed his vehicle into a home.

Around 4 p.m., an elderly man experienced a medical emergency and then crashed his vehicle into a home along the 2500 block of Patterson Road, according to Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Luke Schwartz, citing early reports.

He died from his injuries at the scene, Schwartz said. 

Just after 5 p.m., Riverbank Police Services said on social media Patterson Road street will be closed for several hours while authorities work to process the scene and clear the roadway. 

Law enforcement is asking the public to avoid the area.
