MODESTO, Calif. — A pallet fire in the Modesto area is expected to continue producing smoke for the next couple of hours.

The Modesto Fire Department said their crews and crews from Stanislaus Consolidated Fire District responded to the pallet fire around 12:45 p.m. in the area of Mariposa and Finch roads.

Arriving firefighters found pallets of beverage bottles on fire covering 300 by 200 feet on the Mariposa Road side of the G3 property, officials said.

Crews were able to get the fire under control, but smoke is still expected from the fire for next couple of hours. Crews will continue to be on scene separating materials and putting out hotspots.
