Stanislaus County locals won’t have to drive to Sacramento, Placer or El Dorado counties to take advantage of free pet adoptions any longer, but there are two catches.

Two families are paying all adoption fees for pets adopted from the Stanislaus Animal Services Agency on Dec. 10 and then again on Dec. 17, animal service members said.

Through donations made by Swan Pools and a family that had recently adopted a shelter pooch named Stanley, the free pet adoption offer comes with its own set of unique perks.

Every pet adoption will come with a bag of Hill’s Science Diet pet food, a dog leash, dog training and a PETCO Family Care pack worth $650 in coupons for just all of your pet’s needs.

“We look forward with joy and happiness for all animals to leave the shelter this holiday season and go to their furever home,” shelter members said on Facebook.

It’s the first time sponsors from the local community have come forward to pay all adoption fees, officials said.

“A huge thank you to Stanley’s family and the Swan Pool family for the fantastic support, generosity, and kindness to come forward and make a difference in their community,” shelter members wrote.

Stanislaus Animal Services Agency is located at 3647 Cornucopia Way in Modesto. The shelter is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
