MODESTO, Calif. — Officers in Modesto are searching for vehicles involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash on Christmas Eve.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers were called to Highway 99 near Beckwith Road in Modesto around 5:10 a.m. Sunday for reports of a crash.
Officers found a man lying on the west shoulder of the highway at the scene on southbound 99. He died from his injuries.
No cars involved in the deadly crash were at the scene. Officials say the car or cars involved will have front-end damage and might be black.
Witnesses and people with information on the crash can call investigators at 209-356-2900.
