MODESTO, Calif. — A motorcyclist was killed in a Stanislaus County crash Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The motorcyclist, only identified at this time as a man, was riding his 1992 Suzuki motorcycle westbound on Tenaya Drive, west of Mitchell Road in Modesto, around 3 p.m. when he crossed over a double yellow line to overtake a dark-colored coupe, according to CHP.

At the same time, a semitruck was heading eastbound on Tenaya Drive.

CHP says the motorcyclist hit the driver side of the semi and fell off his bike and onto the road. Though he was taken to the hospital for treatment, he was later pronounced dead by officials.

Officials are still investigating and say they're not sure if drugs or alcohol were involved. However, they did say everyone was wearing proper safety equipment during the crash.

Tenaya Drive between Mitchell Road and Daly Avenue was temporarily closed while officials cleared the crash. No other information is available at this time.
