Person hospitalized after getting burns on 80% of their body in West Modesto

It's not clear what condition the victim is in. Deputies said the person was reported to be on fire.

WEST MODESTO, Calif. — One person is in the hospital after getting burns across 80% of their body in West Modesto.

According to the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded after getting a report of a person that had been on fire along the 1900 block of Robertson Road. 

First responders found the person with 80% of their body covered in burns. The victim was airlifted to a hospital.

Detectives with the Fire Investigation Unit are helped deputies with the investigation. The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation.

It's not clear what condition the victim is in. The sheriff's office said a couple of people have been detained pending further follow up.
