SACRAMENTO – An arrest was made Wednesday in the fatal shooting of Sonora police volunteer and security guard Ricky Roberts.
A news release from the Sonora Police Department stated Cheryl Lucero, 45, of Twain Harte, was arrested for her alleged role in the murder.
Lucero admitted her involvement in the homicide during an interview with police, according to the release.
A search warrant was served at Lucero's home Thursday where evidence was recovered, police said.
Lucero was arrested and booked into Tuolumne County Jail for homicide. Her bail was set at $1 million.
Roberts was found dead inside his shop by police officers responding to a call of a man down inside the store on Feb. 16.
Roberts' slaying was the first homicide in Sonora since 2001.
