Los Angeles man, 38, identified as the motorcyclist who died in I-80 collision with semi-truck | UPDATE

The county coroner hasn't released the man's name, but California Highway Patrol confirmed that it was a 38-year-old man from Los Angeles who died.

Police identified the motorcyclist who was killed Tuesday morning after colliding with a semi-truck on Interstate 80 near the Antelope Road scales.

The county coroner hasn't released the man's name, but California Highway Patrol confirmed that it was a 38-year-old man from Los Angeles who died. CHP released more information on the accident, adding that there was a sedan also involved in the accident.

According to CHP, the motorcyclist was riding his 2009 Kawasaki on I-80 when he crashed into the back of a 2012 Ford Fusion that was driving in front of him. The man was ejected from his motorcycle and subsequently hit by a semi-truck that could not stop in time or avoid the man.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither the 58-year-old woman driving the Ford, nor the 64-year-old man in the semi were injured in the accident.

It's still unclear if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the accident.

All lanes on Interstate 80 near Antelope Road have been reopened following a deadly accident involving big rig and motorcycle, California Highway Patrol officials confirmed.

The accident happened around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday after motorcyclist collided with a semi-truck near Antelope Road on I-80 in Citrus Heights. The motorcyclist was later pronounced dead.

A motorcyclist was killed early Tuesday morning after colliding with a semi-truck on Interstate 80, Citrus Heights Police officials confirmed.

According to California Highway Patrol, the accident happened just after 4:30 a.m. in the No. 3 and 4 lanes near Antelope Road. It's unclear what caused the accident.

According to Citrus Heights Police spokesperson Scott Kermgard, both onramps at westbound I-80 at Antelope Road are closed because of the accident. Traffic is backed up for miles, and officials don't have an estimated time when that will change.
