Officials from the Sacramento International Airport are suggesting travelers arrive even earlier now after the Transportation Security Administration [TSA] began implementing new, stronger screening procedures.
According to a press release from TSA, the new procedures require travelers to place all electronics larger than a cell phone in separate bins with nothing else above or below for X-ray screening. Electronics larger than a cell phone include tablets, e-readers, and video game consoles.
Because of these changes, airport officials are recommending passengers arrive at least two hours prior to their flight departure for domestic flights.
Due to enhanced TSA screening, wait times are longer than normal. Please plan to arrive a minimum of 2 hrs before your scheduled departure.

The stronger security measures do not apply to passengers enrolled in TSA Precheck.
