Cafe Bernardo, Midtown Spirits and Nixtaco among new vendors coming to Sacramento International Airport

More than a dozen new vendors are coming to SMF, including regional favorites like Temple Coffee and West Coast Sourdough.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — People flying in or out of Sacramento International Airport will soon see new food and beverage options available in the airport’s two terminals.

The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to approve the recommended options, which will replace or upgrade existing ones starting this year.

Sacramento favorites like Bawk!, Café Bernardo, Magpie, Midtown Spirits, Nixtaco and Temple Coffee will soon be at SMF; while regional favorites like West Coast Sourdough, Sidewalk Juice and Bambuza Vietnam Kitchen + Bar will move in too.

“This vote puts in motion a transformation of our food landscape at SMF,” said Sacramento County Department of Airports Director Cindy Nichol. “This process was thoughtful, informed by extensive outreach, then well-executed. We are proud of the number of proposals we received. Our new dining options will reflect the amazing culinary culture of Sacramento. And we hope this further enhances what makes SMF such a beloved airport.”

The airport surveyed travelers throughout 2023 and set new goals for small business and Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) representation.

Sacramento County Department of Airports Concessions Manager Andrew Durkee said 38% of the new vendors are ACDBE and 44% are small businesses.

“We have multiple women-owned businesses recommended. This represents some of the top results in the country for a solicitation of this kind,” said Durkee.

High Flying Foods, who represents Bawk!, Nixtaco and Temple Coffee, said it's wanted to be at the airport for awhile.

“High Flying Foods has long had our eye on SMF as it’s in our backyard. We’re thrilled to be part of the airport’s redevelopment and represent the best of Sacramento’s farm-to-fork dining scene by bringing three celebrated local brands to the terminal to enhance the passenger journey," said COO Kevin Westlye.
