Person tunnels into Newcastle gun store, steals about 50 guns

At least one person removed the siding from Foothill Firearms and created a hole to tunnel into the building.

PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — The Placer County Sheriff's Office is investigating after someone broke into a gun store in Newcastle and stole up to 50 guns Monday.

The sheriff's office said the burglary happened around 1:20 a.m. along Taylor Road. At least one person removed the siding from Foothill Firearms and created a hole to tunnel into the building. Making the space to enter the building took the person about two and a half hours, according to the sheriff's office.

The person stole about 45-50 guns but didn't steal any ammo. There's no information about what the person, or people, look like. The sheriff's office said they left in a car but didn't have a good description of the vehicle either.

It's unclear how much the guns were worth.
