Woman hit, killed by train near North Highlands

The accident was reported in the area of Roseville Road and Walerga Road.

NORTH HIGHLANDS, Calif. — A woman was hit and killed by a train in the North Highlands area Monday evening, officials said.

Few details surrounding the collision are available at this time, however, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District confirmed the accident was fatal. It was reported in the area of Roseville Road and Walerga Road. The collision was reported just after 5 p.m.

According to Union Pacific, the woman wasn't at a crossing when the collision happened. Union Pacific is trying to learn what led up to the collision.
