CALIFORNIA, USA —
Some schools in the Sierra Nevada in California are closed Friday as a major winter storm with blizzard conditions is impacts the Sierra through Sunday morning.
This storm will have extreme impacts for the Sierra with heavy snow and gusty winds making travel nearly impossible Friday and Saturday.
Lighter rain accumulations are expected in the valley as the cold storm makes it less impactful than in the Sierra.
Be prepared for travel delays, chain controls and possible road closures over the weekend.
Clearing is expected to start Sunday morning with a few lingering showers. Rain and snow could linger longer Sunday.
