RIVERBANK, Calif. — One person died and four others were injured in a head-on crash near Riverbank Sunday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported along Highway 108, west of Snedigar Road, around 6:15 p.m.
Police said the driver of a Ford van, a 47-year-old man from Modesto, crossed over double yellow lines and hit a 2024 GMC pickup head-on. It's not clear why the driver crossed over the lines.
The GMC driver and three of her passengers were hurt and taken to the hospital. The injuries ranged from major to minor, according to CHP. The driver of the Ford van died at the scene.
Police said everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt, but it's unknown if drugs and/or alcohol played a role in the crash.
