OAKDALE, Calif — A missing swimmer found dead at Woodward Reservoir on Sunday has been identified.
The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office said the man was 21-year-old Franci Antonio Paz Madrid of Modesto.
The sheriff's office said the initial call came in around 2 p.m. Sunday for a distressed swimmer near Mountain View Point. The 21-year-old was swimming with a friend across the channel when he began struggling, went underwater, and didn't come up.
The search lasted nearly six hours and Paz Madrid was found dead.
