The A's officially drop Oakland from team name

The Oakland Athletics have changed the team name to simply the 'Athletics.'

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Oakland Athletics are officially no more after a brand transition Monday morning. The team is now simply just known as 'The Athletics.'

It comes as the team temporarily transitions its home ballpark from the Oakland Coliseum to Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento while a new stadium is built in its future home of Las Vegas.

The club’s new primary logo has also changed to be just a green scripted A.

It's just the latest change to the team after its schedule dropped last week. The A's will play 60 of their 81 games at night with games starting at 7:05 p.m. The team's 60 night games are tied for the most in a season in franchise history.

There are some schedule overlaps with the Sacramento Kings, too.

The A’s and Kings will share three game days at home in the second week of April on April 9, 11 and 13. That time will serve as the third week of the season for the A’s while the regular season will be winding down for the Kings.

Are tickets available?

A representative for the A's told ABC10 single-game tickets are expected to go on sale in early 2025.

A’s season tickets are on sale now and will be released in phases. The team said current A’s season ticket holders will be notified when seats comparable to their 2024 plan will be available to purchase.

Fans who put down a season ticket deposit will be notified when they can purchase tickets based on priority.
