GALT, Calif. — A school bus driver was taken to a hospital after a collision between an occupied bus and another vehicle in Galt.
One adult, the bus driver, was taken to a hospital for a complaint of back pain, according to the California Highway Patrol, but no students were hurt. Twenty children were on the bus, according to California Highway Patrol.
The Galt Police Department said the collision happened just before 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of A Street and Oak Avenue.
Police said the students on the bus had already been evacuated by the time they arrived. According to police, some stayed on the scene for first aid after complaints of pain before being released to their parents.
CHP said the other driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI. The person was driving a pickup truck with a Wilbur-Ellis logo on the side.
"We are aware of the accident involving one of our drivers and a school bus that occurred on May 14, 2024. The safety and well-being of everyone involved is our top priority. We are awaiting further information from law enforcement and will cooperate fully with their investigation," Wilbur-Ellis told ABC10 in a statement.
