'She was a loveable soul': Cousin identifies victim of South Sacramento homicide

Officials say they found a woman dead inside her home in the area of Casa Grande Way and 53rd Avenue in South Sacramento.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office says they are investigating a homicide in South Sacramento Friday evening.

Fire crews responded to reports of an unresponsive woman inside her home in the area of Casa Grande Way and 53rd Avenue around noon Friday, according to officials.

Officials say the 30-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Once taken to the coroner, she was found to have a gunshot wound, turning the case from a suspicious death to a homicide that the sheriff's office took over.

Jason White is a cousin of the victim and identified her as Cynthia Frazier, a mother of four — the youngest of which is just 8 months old.

"It's unreal, you know?" said White. "She was a loveable soul. She was a good person. She was going through things and she made the best out of her situations."

He says this was a difficult few years for his cousin after the loss of multiple family members.

"She just loved her kids and she was trying her hardest," said White. "That's my cousin. I'm going to love her for the — I'm going to see her again.

Officials have no suspect information at this time and are continuing to investigate.

"We're seeking out witnesses, interviewing anyone who will cooperate whether they're neighbors or anyone else," said Sgt. Amar Ghandi, spokesperson for the sheriff's office.
